about
Created for the third Edric Cycle. My challenge came from Dave Leigh, and was to either write a song with a distinct key change in it or write a country-western song which is also an instruction for a line dance.. I chose the latter.
lyrics
Back to Kansas Boogie
By JoAnn Abbott
For Dave Leigh Nov 2012
The flat Kansas plain was driving you insane
So you ran away west to find a dream
To the California lights where the stars all shine so bright
But you’re finding things just aren’t what they seem
There are villains everywhere
They’re like lions- tigers- bears!
And you’re wishing you had never thought to roam-
They are out to get you- and your little dog too!
Now you realize that there’s no place like home
Chorus
You better get back, get back, get back
And leave those poppies by the shore
They’ll have you spinning round
Just like a cyclones knocking at your door
Click your heels three times
Then head for home down that yellow brick line
Because there’s one thing that’s for sure-
You’re not in Kansas anymore!
You thought to be a star but you’ve wandered pretty far
Hard to tell a friend from foe along the road
Time for you to use your brain,
Cause this place is really strange
Hope you find some friends to help you with your load
Try not to lose your heart and
Don’t be afraid to start
Beware the man behind the curtain in his dome
Cause he will lie to get his way
But you are gonna be ok
If you remember that there is no place like home
Chorus
You better get back, get back, get back
And leave those poppies by the shore
They’ll have you spinning round
Just like a cyclones come a knocking at your door
Click your heels three times
Then head for home down that yellow brick line
Because there’s one thing that’s for sure-
You’re not in Kansas anymore!
Chorus
You better get back, get back, get back
And leave those poppies by the shore
They’ll have you spinning round
Just like a cyclones come a knocking at your door
Click your heels three times
Then head for home down that yellow brick line
Because there’s one thing that’s for sure-
You’re not in Kansas anymore!
