Been a hell of a year, hasn’t it?
Lost m’home, m’job, m’farm, I’m outta of cash
No family still livin, nobody round to help
An now the doc just came to tell me that I’m dyin
Says “Move into the county charity home”
But I don’t think so
No that’s not me.

I’m gonna buy a broke down racehorse,
Gonna take my dog and go
Gonna head down south before the Maine snows fly
Gonna see this country while I can
From New York to LA
And I’ll see that big Pacific by and by

Folks here call me “Jackass Annie”
Cause I ride one into work
And I’m known for wearing trousers round the town
Don’t make sense to wear a dress an pearls
When mucking out the barn
And yeah I’m stubborn but I won’t let things get me down.

Since he can’t race any more
Rex is where my ol dog Depeche Toi can sit (Hurry up!)
Heading south along the coast of Maine
